My Commitment to Our Students

I am proud to have championed a remarkable era in GUHSD history - a 33-year period defined by modernizing every campus in East County, cutting‑edge academic innovation, and rigorous financial transparency that has strengthened every school, empowered every educator, and expanded opportunity for every student in East County.

  • State‑of‑the‑art facilities across every campus — including new science buildings, theaters, weight rooms, community centers, advanced computer labs, and specialized CTE classrooms for aerospace, biotechnology, cybersecurity, drone engineering, entrepreneurship, esports, robotics, welding, agriculture, automotive, and the construction trades.

  • Districtwide modernization, transforming classrooms at El Cajon Valley, El Capitan, Granite Hills, Grossmont, Helix Charter, Monte Vista, Mount Miguel, Santana, Steele Canyon, Valhalla, and West Hills into energy‑efficient, air‑conditioned learning environments that save millions in utilities.

  • Solar infrastructure that powers air‑conditioning, electric buses and cars; and is projected to save taxpayers more than $70 million over 25 years.

  • Historic investments in educators, including some of the highest annual compensation and benefit increases, professional development, and the most generous paid new baby bonding time in San Diego County expressing the value of all our employees.

  • Expanded support for student life and mental health, with increased stipends for coaches, athletic league, athletics, ASB, band, cheer, and extracurricular programs including girls’ flag football, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, and much more.

  • Nearly half a billion dollars in state matching grants through Proposition U and Measure BB — modernizing every campus with state-of-the-art technology and career technical education classrooms, as well as returning millions of taxpayer dollars to East County.

  • $28 million returned to local taxpayers, supporting affordability for renters, homeowners and small businesses.

Prioritize Student Success

I am committed to preparing students both academically and for life beyond school. By investing in career readiness, internship availability, and financial literacy courses, we are preparing our students to achieve success well beyond their years at Grossmont Union High School District.

Expand Fiscal Transparency

You deserve to know where your money is going and how it is benefitting our students. I will continue to push for increased transparency, responsible spending, oversight, and management. Every dollar of your money should equal student success.

Every student, parent, teacher, and community member deserves to feel safe on every campus. By investing in more safety resources, programs, and preparedness, we can ensure we protect our students and their future.

Increase Safety on Campus

Looking to the Future: In the Next 4 Years I Will…

1. Complete doubling funding and participation in academic competitions, athletics, band, cheer, team sports, Title IX, and extracurricular programs on all campuses in the next four years, to improve mental and physical health.

2. Double funding and participation in career technical education on all campuses in the next four years, so that students can apply for higher-paying AI-empowered careers.

3. Double funding and participation in early college and dual enrollment on all campuses in the next four years, so that families can save tens of thousands in college costs.

4. Provide free ASB cards to all students on all campuses allowing all students, regardless of income, so that all students can participate in school spirit and homecoming activities.

5. Reimagine libraries as state-of-the-art innovation learning centers so that all students on all campuses can benefit from AI-empowered learning.

6. Complete the $1Billion modernization of the Grossmont District, so that all students on all campuses will have stat-of-the-art classrooms and technology – making GUHSD one of the best high school districts in San Diego County.

7. Eliminate remaining inefficiencies and outdated non-teaching positions so that the District can reduce class size, increase student mental health, and improve English and math test scores, as well as return additional millions of dollars to the parents of East County to make housing more affordable.
